Our Approach

At The Reconnection, we take a unique approach to women’s wellness - one that honours both body and soul, creating the space for true healing and lasting transformation to unfold from within.

Where Science Meets Sacred

Our team brings direct experience from clinical trials at Imperial College London, where studies have explored psilocybin therapy for treatment-resistant depression, anorexia, and fibromyalgia. Research also highlights the broader potential of psychedelics to support emotional wellbeing, help people move through life transitions, process grief, and deepen spiritual connection. We continue to be inspired by the growing research into women’s health and psychedelics, with emerging research exploring the influence of menstrual cycles, hormonal states, and life stages such as perimenopause and menopause. Through our partnership with women’s research organisation Hystelica we are committed to supporting and advancing this important field to ensure safer, more effective psychedelic medicine for women.

Science-Backed Approach

Women have always gathered together. We used to be held by an entire village, surrounded by women of all ages who came together to share wisdom, care, and support. Today, many of us find ourselves carrying the weight of modern life alone, seeing a rise of stress, loneliness and disconnection. Our women-only spaces recognise the unique ways our lives are shaped by our stories, our bodies, and our cycles. It's deeply healing to co-regulate, to laugh together, cry together, dance together, sing together, and journey together. Coming together in this way, honours both the intelligence of a woman’s body and the profound transformations that can unfold in community.

Women-Only Spaces

The medicine that we work with in ceremony is psilocybin, a fungi that has been both a subject of modern scientific research and a sacred ally in Indigenous ceremonial traditions for thousands of years. In the Mazatec tradition of Oaxaca, Mexico, these mushrooms - known as ‘niños santos (sacred children) - are used with deep reverence to bring insight, healing, and connection to the wider web of life. We honour their guardianship, acknowledging the Indigenous peoples who have carried this wisdom through generations, and we hold a commitment to walk in reciprocity and respect.

Sacred Plant Medicine

While your journey is uniquely your own, it’s also one we walk together. There is a unique magic in gathering with other women; sharing laughter, tears, song, silence, and those moments of profound breakthrough. We witness and celebrate one another, and in doing so, begin to heal the sister wound many of us carry.

Over the 12 week programme trust and friendship naturally form. Bonds often extend far beyond our time together, with past guests uniting for weekends away, festivals, ecstatic dance, and even weddings.

When women gather in safety and authenticity, healing doesn’t just happen within - it happens between us. Research reflects what we witness: belonging within a group can increase wellbeing, amplify meaning and belonging, and support lasting integration.

Sisterhood & Support

“The sisterhood I experienced was life-changing. I felt deeply supported and seen, which allowed me to go deeper into my healing.”

Somatic practices form the foundation of our approach. Working with psilocybin can open vast emotional, cognitive, and spiritual landscapes, but it is the body that keeps us present and regulated as we explore these territories. You’ll learn to listen to your body’s wisdom, release stored tension, and reconnect with yourself from the inside out.

Somatics & Embodied Movement

  • TRE is a simple yet profound somatic release practice that activates the body’s natural response to stress, neurogenic tremors. These tremors release stored tension, unprocessed trauma and resolve stress patterns held deep in the nervous system and fascia network.

  • An intuitive exploration of rhythm and expression that bypasses the thinking mind, reawakening aliveness, joy, and creativity while encouraging the body to move in ways that feel natural and liberating.

  • We honour the feminine principles of movement and practice to cultivate mobility and ease, releasing areas of contraction while attuning to subtle sensations, creating more spaciousness in body, mind, and heart.

  • Breathwork involves conscious breathing techniques that regulate the nervous system, anchor presence, and expand your capacity to meet and process whatever arises, both in altered states and everyday life.

  • Mary offers 1:1 Somatic Experiencing sessions, a gentle, body-oriented approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine to help release trauma and restore the natural balance of the nervous system. By bringing awareness to physical sensations and allowing the body to complete its innate responses to stress, these sessions support the gradual discharge of held survival energy. This process helps re-establish a sense of safety, ease, and aliveness in the body.

Safety is the foundation of everything we do at The Reconnection. When we don’t feel safe, the body instinctively protects itself by contracting and closing down, making it difficult to let go and surrender. When a sense of safety is present - physically, emotionally, and spiritually - the body can finally open and exhale. From a place of openness, the psilocybin, the somatic practices, and the sisterhood can truly meet you, enabling healing to unfold in its own time and in its own way.
