FAQS

Here is a list of frequently asked questions to support you in your decision to join us.

  • Research on psilocybin has shown promising results in the treatment of depression, anxiety, addiction, and end-of-life distress. Studies also suggest it may enhance emotional processing, increase self-compassion, and deepen one’s sense of connection to self, others, and the natural world. Read more HERE.

  • No, The Reconnection is not a clinical therapy programme. However, it is grounded in best practices in psychedelic care, trauma-informed facilitation, and ethical space holding. Many guests choose to have additional support from an existing therapist or healthcare provider as part of preparation and ongoing integration.

  • Psilocybin mushrooms are decriminalised in Portugal for personal use. We operate with transparency, care, and discretion in alignment with the current legal landscape. Our retreats are private, by-application gatherings centred around self-inquiry, personal development, and healing.

  • Not at all. Many of our participants are new to psychedelics. You’ll be gently guided and supported throughout the entire process—from preparation to ceremony to integration.

  • Certain medications are not compatible with psilocybin, including:

    • TCAs and MAOIs

    • Antipsychotics

    • Lithium

    • SSRIs may be considered in low doses, depending on individual circumstances

Each applicant undergoes a thorough medical review to ensure safety. If you’re unsure, please apply and we’ll discuss your specific circumstances during the screening process.

  • No. Every experience is unique. Some are deeply emotional or visual, others are subtle and somatic. Rather than aiming for a particular outcome, we encourage you to arrive with openness and trust in the process.

  • There’s no universally “best” time—every woman is different. That said, some feel more physically grounded and emotionally resourced during the follicular phase (days 6–14), when oestrogen levels are rising. Others feel most attuned to the medicine during menstruation, when emotional access and inner reflection may be heightened. We’re happy to help you reflect on what timing might best support you.
