A Note on Responsibility

At The Reconnection we honour each participant’s choice to walk this path. By joining, you acknowledge that you are engaging of your own choice and that you accept personal responsibility for your decision to work with psilocybin. While many people find this work deeply meaningful, no substance or experience is without risk. You confirm that you have taken time to consider potential risks including drug or medicine interactions, genetic or biological predispositions, and psychological contraindications, and that you feel comfortable with your decision.

A Note on Outcomes

Psychedelic experiences are often profound, but they are also unpredictable. We cannot guarantee specific results or outcomes from your retreat. Our role is to create a safe, supportive container for your journey, but the healing process itself is personal and unique. We are facilitators, not licensed medical or mental health providers, and what we offer is not a substitute for medical treatment or psychotherapy.

Participant Eligibility and Screening

Our retreats are designed for people in good mental and physical health who feel called to work with psilocybin in a ceremonial, non-clinical setting. We do not offer therapeutic or medical treatment.

For safety reasons, participation is not possible if you:

  • have serious cardiovascular conditions (such as a recent stroke or heart attack)

  • have neurological issues (such as epilepsy or a history of brain trauma)

  • are currently taking antidepressant (SSRI/TCA), mood-stabilising (e.g. lithium), or antipsychotic medications (e.g. Abilify)

  • have severe mental health conditions such as psychosis, bipolar disorder, or personality disorder

We conduct thorough screening to help ensure safety for all participants.

It is also important to note that most of the research on psilocybin’s therapeutic potential has been conducted in highly controlled clinical settings, which differ from the group retreat environment. More research is needed to explore the specific benefits of group psilocybin experiences.

Risk and Safety

We believe in being transparent: working with psychedelics carries inherent risks. These may include psychological distress, challenging emotions, destabilisation after the retreat, or in rare cases, more serious psychiatric or physical complications.

The psychedelic retreat space is still emerging and there are not yet universal safety standards or transparent reporting of risks. Some risks in this field remain underreported or poorly understood. We seek to counter this by:

  • conducting thorough screening of all participants

  • offering preparation and integration support

  • working only within carefully held ceremonial settings

  • maintaining ethical standards and clear boundaries

  • continually refining our approach as new research and insights emerge

Even with these measures, risks remain, and it is important that each participant makes an informed decision.

At The Reconnection, we believe it is important to approach psilocybin with both respect and realism. While many people find these experiences deeply beneficial, there are also risks. Being clear about these allows each person to make an informed decision about whether this path is right for them.

Physical risks

Psilocybin itself is considered physiologically safe and is not known to cause long-term damage to the body. However, during the experience, some people may experience temporary increases in heart rate or blood pressure, nausea, or mild headaches afterwards. For most healthy individuals these effects are short-lived, but they may pose risks for people with certain medical conditions. For this reason, individuals with significant cardiovascular or neurological issues are not eligible to attend.

Psychological risks

Psychedelic experiences can be powerful and unpredictable. They may bring to the surface difficult emotions, memories, or psychological material that can feel overwhelming in the moment. In rare cases, psychedelics can trigger or worsen underlying mental health conditions such as psychosis or bipolar disorder. This is why we carefully screen all applicants and do not accept participants for whom psilocybin could pose significant psychological risks.

Aftercare Risks

Even when journeys are positive, integration can be challenging. Insights may take time to settle, and some people feel temporarily destabilised or vulnerable after a retreat. Without proper support, this can lead to difficulties. For this reason, we place strong emphasis on preparation, integration, and community, ensuring that participants have tools and structures in place to help them navigate the days and weeks after the retreat.

Liability Waiver

By choosing to attend The Reconnection, you agree to assume full responsibility for your wellbeing and for any injury, illness, or property loss that may occur. Should emergency medical care be required, you agree to be financially responsible for any associated expenses.

Please note: all participants are required to review and sign a Waiver form prior to the retreat. This ensures that you have read, understood, and agreed to the responsibilities, risks, and limitations outlined here.

What We Believe Matters Most

Psychedelics are not a magic solution or cure-all. The true work unfolds in how you prepare for the journey, how you meet the experience, and how you integrate its lessons into daily life. Transformation is a process that takes time, dedication, and often ongoing support.

We work with psilocybin as a sacred medicine within a ceremonial framework. We do not sell or provide substances outside of retreat, nor do we advise on their acquisition. Our focus is to create the most ethical, supportive, and transparent environment possible, while recognising that this field, like all human endeavours, carries uncertainties.

This applies to all participants, including those paying by instalments. Payment plans are offered as a convenience but must be completed by the 3-month deadline.

If you need to request a change of booking due to personal reasons, the deposit may be transferred to another retreat date only if your space can be filled.

Preparation Sessions (pre retreat)

1:1 preparation sessions are included as part of the retreat offering.
Once delivered, these sessions are non-refundable, even if you later withdraw from the retreat.

Once preparation sessions have begun and the 90-day payment deadline has been reached, the retreat place is considered financially committed. Cancellations made at or after this point are subject to the cancellation policy regardless of whether the remaining balance has already been paid.

Preparation sessions are typically scheduled after the 90-day payment deadline wherever possible.

f you need to cancel your participation after booking, the following applies excluding the £600 non-refundable deposit:

60 days or more before the retreat start date

  • No refund of the remaining balance will be issued.

  • If we are able to fill your space, we may offer a partial refund or transfer at our discretion.

If you are paying by instalments and cancel after the relevant deadlines, the full balance remains due.

We strongly recommend that all participants purchase travel and retreat cancellation insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
